Min Li

Prof. Min Li currently serves as the Executive Associate Dean and director of the Double Degree Program in BCM & BSc. BIOMED and the director of Mr. & Mrs. Ko Chi-Ming Centre for Parkinson’s Disease Research (CPDR) at the School of Chinese Medicine (SCM), Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Prof. Li earned her bachelor’s degree from the Henan University of Chinese Medicine in 1985, her master’s degree from the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in 1988 in China, and her PhD from the School of Medicine at Tokai University in Japan in 2001. Prof. Li’s research group is dedicated to investigating the neuroprotective effects and the underlying molecular mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Her team also conducts clinical studies to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TCM in treating PD and AD.  In 2007, Prof. Li was honored as a distinguished female practitioner of Chinese medicine by the China Association of Chinese Medicine. She is a two-time recipient of the President’s Award at HKBU for Excellent Performance in Teaching in 2013 and 2018, also she received the President’s Award for Excellent Performance in Research Supervision in 2024. Prof. Li has secured numerous external research grants (including CRF, GRF, HMRF, ITC, etc.) and UGC Teaching and Learning grants. She has published over 200 scientific research papers and more than 20 books. Moreover, her group has been granted over 20 patents in the US, Europe, and China.
