Michael Wong

Dr. Wong has more than 10 years of research experience in the fields of viral immunology and vaccinology. He has been focusing on the immunogenicity, protective efficacy, and mechanisms of action of various vaccine vectors since his PhD study. He graduated with a PhD degree in Biomedical Science and Biochemistry from the Australian National University in 2014. He received his post-postdoctoral training at Centenary Institute in Sydney, Australia. He then joined Prof. Zhiwei Chen’s team at the University of Hong Kong in 2016, where he developed and evaluated the PD-1-enhanced DNA vaccine technology in different pre-clinical disease models. During his time in academia, Dr. Wong obtained multiple university and government grants to develop novel immunotherapies for infectious diseases. Dr. Wong is the co-inventor of the patent of “PD-1 based DNA vaccines against coronavirus infection”, which was licensed by the Group in 2020 from the University of Hong Kong Technology Transfer Office.
