Ho Ko

Ho Ko is a neuroscientist and associate professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He holds a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from CUHK, and a PhD in neuroscience from University College London (UCL). His PhD research, supervised by Thomas Mrsic-Flogel, focused on the connectivity between neurons in the brain and earned him a runner-up award in the 2014 Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology. Currently, Ho Ko leads a multidisciplinary team at CUHK, where he is associate director of the Margaret K.L. Cheung Research Centre and the Lau Tat-chuen Research Centre, and a principal investigator at the Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences and the Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute. His research explores three key areas: gliovascular dysfunction in neurodegenerative disorders, neural circuits involved in sensorimotor behaviors, and the development of imaging tools and methods. His team’s work has been recognized with several awards, including the 2020 Croucher Innovation Award, the 2021 Excellent Young Scientists Fund from the National Natural Sciences Foundation of China, the 2022 Sir David Todd Lectureship, and the 2023 Asian Young Scientist Fellowship from the Future Science Awards Foundation.
