Christopher Leung is Chairperson and Clinical Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Director of HKU Eye Centre, Chief of Service in the Department of Ophthalmology at Queen Mary Hospital, Chief of Service in the Department of Ophthalmology at HKU-Shenzhen Hospital, and Honorary Consultant at Grantham Hospital and Hong Kong Eye Hospital. He read a MSc in Molecular Medicine at the Imperial College London, obtained his medical training (MB ChB) and doctoral education (MD) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and completed a clinical and research fellowship at the Hamilton Glaucoma Center, University of California San Diego. His research focuses on optical coherence tomography, neuroprotection, and glaucoma diagnostics. Research and service awards Dr. Leung received include the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Clinician-Scientist Research Award (2010), World Glaucoma Association Science Award (2009 and 2011), Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) Nakajima Award (2010), American Academy of Ophthalmology Senior Achievement Award (2015) and Secretariat Award (2012), and WITSA Global Information and Communications Excellence Award (2019), Hong Kong Information and Communications Technology Gold Award and Grand Award (2019), APAO Senior Achievement Award (2021), among others. Dr. Leung serves on the Editorial Board of American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Translational Vision Science & Technology, Asia Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology, Journal of Glaucoma, and International Glaucoma Review. He has helped organize more than 20 international conferences in ophthalmology and delivered more than 200 invited lectures over 68 cities in 28 countries.
