Dr. Kucherlapati is a Professor of Genetics and Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He obtained his PhD degree from the University of Illinois, trained at Yale University and was a faculty member at Princeton University, University of Illinois and Chairman of the Department of Molecular Genetics at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He joined the Harvard faculty in 2001 and was the first Scientific Director of the Harvard-Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics. His research interests are in the areas of human genetics, gene-modification, genomics and cancer genetics and genomics. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is a member of the National Academy of Medicine of the US. He was a member of a Presidential Committee during the administration of President Obama. He also founded several successful biotechnology companies.
